Anthony Davis is indeed doubtful for tonight’s game against the Brooklyn Nets. That could change very soon, as he’s reportedly finalizing a deal to rejoin the Dallas Mavericks. His possible return is timed perfectly, as the Mavericks head out on their most important four-game road trip. Davis has missed the last six weeks due to his injury. Sure enough, he’s now truly fighting his way back to the squad. During his exile, Davis has stayed active, seen the world with his team, and personally forged unbreakable bonds with his teammates.
During his tenure with the Mavericks, Davis dealt with a lingering abdominal injury. This injury ultimately led him to miss his final two games as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. Upon his trade to Dallas, he similarly missed the first two games he was eligible to play for the Mavericks. Even with these odds stacked against him, Davis has remained upbeat, focused on his rehab, and determined to come back.
In his final performance on the court, Davis dazzled. He tallied 26 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists. He had a phenomenal first half of the game and was all over the ice. He had 24 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and all three of his blocks during that stretch. God was cruel to this man, and a groin injury in the third quarter had him leave early.
The Mavericks are looking ahead to their upcoming road trip. In the short term, they’re understandably optimistic that a healthy Davis will make them far more dangerous on the court. With seven of their remaining 11 fixtures away from home, Davis’s return should prove crucial. The team is currently in a tight race with the Phoenix Suns for 10th place in the Western Conference standings.
