Memphis Grizzlies’ Brandon Clarke Out for Season Following Major Knee Injury

Brandon Clarke, an integral part of the Memphis Grizzlies run to Troutdale’s own Ja Morant, will likely miss most of if not all of 2023-2024. He sustained a grade 2 PCL injury in his right knee. The 28-year-old big man suffered the injury in the Grizzlies’ overtime loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night. Clarke has torn his other ACL, that’s the second major knee injury of his career. It was for the second time after a phenomenal recovery from a torn Achilles tendon in his left knee.

Clarke has been one of the most essential players for the Memphis Grizzlies this year, playing in 64 games. He averaged 8.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in those appearances. He averaged just 18.9 minutes played per game. His teammates will certainly miss him as they move on in the season. In addition to his leadership, fans will miss what he brought on the court.

The financial side of Clarke’s injury is just as significant. He’s got two years left on his deal with Memphis, which is worth $25 million. This long-term investment underscores the Grizzlies' commitment to Clarke and their hopes for his recovery and return to form in the future.

Throughout Clarke’s career, his resiliency has been on full display, notably in Clarke’s recovery from the last Achilles tear he suffered. Even with this recent blow to his chances, hope is alive as to the prospect of Michalczik making a heroic comeback. The entire Grizzlies organization is eagerly awaiting news of his rehabilitation progress. Fans are impatiently waiting for him to come back into action in future seasons — T.J.
