A heated confrontation erupted during a game between the Houston Rockets and the Phoenix Suns at the Toyota Center in Houston. With just over three minutes remaining in the second quarter, players Steven Adams of the Rockets and Mason Plumlee of the Suns were ejected following a physical skirmish. Referee Tony Brothers issued double technical fouls to both players, leading to their ejection from the game.
The incident began as Adams and Plumlee became entangled while jostling for rebounding position on a successful jumper by Jalen Green. The intensity quickly escalated into what can only be described as a heavyweight wrestling match in front of the Suns' bench. Witnesses reported that Adams appeared to attempt to lift Plumlee off the floor, a move that culminated in both players crashing to the ground with Plumlee ending up on top.
As tensions flared, several players, assistant coaches, and staff members rushed to separate Adams and Plumlee. The altercation was sparked by the players battling for position in the paint, where they initially stood chest to chest. In an effort to free himself, Plumlee pushed Adams, adding fuel to the fire.
Despite the tumultuous end to their game participation, Adams received a standing ovation from Rockets fans as he exited the court. The fans' reaction underscored their support for Adams amid the dramatic turn of events.
