Mo Bamba Joins Pelicans on 10-Day Contract After Impressive G League Stint

Mo Bamba, the 26-year-old basketball player known for his towering presence and defensive skills, has signed a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans. This move comes after an impressive performance with the Pelicans' G League affiliate, where he averaged 20 points and 13.3 rebounds per game. The decision to bring Bamba on board follows his recent waiver from the Utah Jazz.

Bamba's professional journey began when he was drafted sixth overall in the 2018 NBA draft. Since then, he has played for several teams including the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, and LA Clippers. His career, spanning seven seasons, has seen him become a reliable player known for his defensive capabilities. This season, he achieved a career-high shooting percentage of 62% on two-pointers and maintained an average of 1.3 blocks per game throughout his career, showcasing his defensive prowess.

Before joining the Pelicans, Bamba had signed a one-year deal with the LA Clippers. During his time with the Clippers, he appeared in 28 games and started in two. Despite his contributions, he was traded to the Utah Jazz along with P.J. Tucker. However, his stint with the Jazz was short-lived as he was waived shortly after.

Bamba's latest opportunity with the Pelicans provides him a platform to continue showcasing his skills in the NBA. Known for his three-point shooting ability, with a career average of 36%, Bamba brings versatility to the Pelicans' roster. His recent performance in the G League highlights his potential to make a significant impact during this short-term contract.
