New Zealand Awaits Scan Results on Matt Henry’s Injury Ahead of India Final

New Zealand's cricket team is anxiously awaiting the results of scans on pace bowler Matt Henry's shoulder, following an injury he sustained during their semi-final win against South Africa. The Black Caps, who arrived back in Dubai on Thursday following their match in Lahore, are hopeful that Henry will be fit to face India in the Champions Trophy final. Coach Gary Stead affirmed that they will give Henry "every chance" to participate in the crucial game.

Henry, aged 33, jarred his right shoulder while successfully taking a catch to dismiss Heinrich Klaasen in the 29th over of the semi-final. Despite the discomfort, Henry managed to return to the field and bowl two additional overs. Stead described the injury as "pretty uncomfortable" and indicated that the situation remains uncertain.

"It is a little bit out of our control," Stead noted regarding the injury.

The team is keen to have Henry back on the field, given his impressive form in the tournament. He has taken ten wickets in New Zealand's four matches at the Champions Trophy, making him a significant asset for the team. In comparison, India's Mohammed Shami has secured eight wickets.

If Henry is unable to recover in time, New Zealand may consider pace bowler Jacob Duffy or fast-bowling all-rounder Nathan Smith as likely replacements. The Black Caps are determined to put up a strong fight against India, despite a recent setback where they were defeated by 44 runs in their final Group A match in Dubai.

"We are going to give him every chance to be playing in this match," Stead emphasized about Henry's potential participation.
