This announcement was made on Wednesday, though the Eagles did not disclose the financial specifics. Sources informed ESPN's Adam Schefter that the deal includes $34 million guaranteed at signing and an additional $1.5 million in incentives, positioning Baun among the NFL's highest-paid linebackers.
Baun, 28, emerged as a key player in 2024, delivering one of the most remarkable seasons in recent memory. Initially signed to a modest one-year, $3.5 million contract as a rotational edge rusher and special teams contributor, Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio moved him inside, leading to an outstanding All-Pro campaign. Baun achieved 151 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, and 5 forced fumbles during the season.
In the playoffs, Baun's exceptional performance continued, notably posting 33 tackles and securing two interceptions. His efforts were instrumental in the Eagles' success, including a critical interception against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. This standout play has solidified his reputation as a formidable force on the field.
Baun's career began with the New Orleans Saints, who selected him in the third round of the 2020 draft. Over four seasons with the Saints, he started 14 games and accumulated 88 tackles along with two sacks.
