Myles Garrett, the celebrated defensive end for the Cleveland Browns, has made a stunning announcement regarding his future with the team. The 29-year-old six-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro selection declared his intention to leave the Browns, despite having two years left on his current contract. Garrett signed a five-year, $125 million extension in 2020, but with no guaranteed salary remaining, he is eager to join a team with a stronger chance of contending for championships.
Garrett's decision is not financially motivated. He has clarified that his trade request stems from a desire to play for a playoff contender, as he has only experienced postseason play twice in his eight-season career. The 2023 Defensive Player of the Year believes his ambitions are not aligned with those of the Browns' management.

As a key player in Cleveland's defense, Garrett's departure would undoubtedly create a significant void.
Garrett's current contract, which was a monumental extension at the time of signing, now appears to be less of a constraint for the Browns, given the absence of guaranteed money. However, with two seasons still remaining, any potential trade would require strategic negotiations and considerations on both sides. Additionally, the Browns hold the second pick in the 2025 NFL draft, which might influence their decision-making process regarding Garrett's future.
