Lydia Ko Closes in on A Lim Kim at HSBC Women’s World Championship

The excitement is palpable at the HSBC Women's World Championship, where Lydia Ko closed in on first-round leader A Lim Kim after a stellar performance on Friday. The tournament is being held at the Tanjong course at Sentosa Golf Club, featuring a competitive field that includes nine of the top 10 players in the world rankings, with 13 out of the top 15 players participating. However, top-ranked players Nelly Korda and Rose Zhang are notably absent from this prestigious event.

A Lim Kim maintained her lead after 36 holes with a solid round of 69 on Friday. Meanwhile, Lydia Ko, who became the youngest player to enter the LPGA's Hall of Fame last year, delivered an impressive bogey-free round. She shot a 5-under 67, hitting 11 of 14 fairways and 16 of 17 greens in regulation. This performance brought her within just one stroke of the lead, with a two-round total of 6-under 138.

Charley Hull of England and Hyo Joo Kim are tied for third place, trailing Kim by two shots. Hull and Kim have both showcased their prowess on the course and are in strong contention as the tournament progresses. Defending champion Hannah Green also had a commendable round, shooting a 69 to remain on even-par, while Angel Yin, fresh off her victory at the LPGA Thailand event last week, shot a 68.

This tournament marks the final stop of the LPGA's three-tournament early Asian Swing, with the next event scheduled to take place at Hainan Island, China. The competition at Sentosa Golf Club is fierce, as players vie for top honors in this prestigious championship.
