A legal battle unfolds as a lawsuit was filed in October, accusing NBA star LeBron James and his son Bronny of involvement in a 2022 car crash near Los Angeles. The plaintiffs, April Almanza Lopez and Kiara Rae McGillen, allege that the incident occurred in November 2022 on a highway in Littlerock, California. At the time, LeBron and Bronny were teammates on the Los Angeles Lakers. They are accused of crashing into Lopez and McGillen's vehicle, which reportedly led to injuries and vehicle damage.
James’ legal team firmly denied the allegations, filing a response on February 20 in the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
"deny each and every allegation contained in the complaint and further deny that plaintiffs have been damaged in the sum or sums alleged, or any other sum or sums, or at all" – James' attorneys
The lawsuit claims that Lopez and McGillen sustained undisclosed injuries requiring ongoing treatment, alongside damage and depreciation of their vehicle. In their filing, James' attorneys presented 14 defenses to counter these claims. One defense argued that any harm suffered by Lopez and McGillen resulted from actions by others.
"by persons other than these answering defendants"
According to the lawsuit, Lopez and McGillen seek compensation for their injuries and damages. Meanwhile, LeBron's attorneys have requested the judge to rule in their favor, dismissing the claims and awarding them costs incurred by the lawsuit.
The situation remains unresolved as the case progresses through the legal system. Despite the denial from James' team, Lopez and McGillen continue to pursue their claims for justice and compensation.
