Netherlands to Host Solheim Cup for the First Time in 2026

The 2026 Solheim Cup will mark a historic moment as it takes place at Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt, Netherlands. This will be the first time the prestigious biennial women's golf tournament is held in the Netherlands. The European team, under the leadership of their newly appointed captain Anna Nordqvist, aims to reclaim the cup after their narrow defeat to the United States last year.

Anna Nordqvist brings a wealth of experience to her role as captain. She is one of the most successful players in the history of the European team, having secured five Solheim Cup victories. Her impressive record includes 17 wins out of 35 matches. Nordqvist's involvement with the Solheim Cup spans nine appearances, and she has also served as a playing vice-captain in the 2023 and 2024 tournaments. Despite her leadership commitments, she remains an active competitor on the Ladies European Tour.

The Solheim Cup, held every two years, is widely regarded as the pinnacle of team competition in women's golf. It features national teams from Europe and the United States, battling for supremacy on the course. The previous edition saw the American team triumph with a score of 15½-12½, adding to their victory in 2017. The European team is determined to turn the tables in 2026.

Nordqvist expressed her enthusiasm for leading the European team, describing the Solheim Cup as "incredibly special." She highlighted the camaraderie and unforgettable memories formed during her extensive participation in the tournament. Her leadership is expected to inspire her teammates as they prepare for this significant event.
