LaMelo Ball Sidelined Again: Ankle Issues Persist for Hornets Star

LaMelo Ball, the star guard for the Charlotte Hornets, did not play in the second half of their game against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night. The Hornets announced at halftime that Ball would be absent due to right ankle soreness, a recurring issue for the player this season. Ball managed to score five points and make three assists in the first half before sitting out the remainder of the game.

Ball's performance this season has been impressive, averaging 28 points per game. However, frequent ankle problems have plagued his playing time, causing him to miss 17 games. The young guard had recently returned from a sprained left ankle, only to be sidelined again due to issues with his right ankle. His persistent ankle troubles have raised concerns about his ability to maintain consistent playtime.

In Monday's game against the Nets, Ball played only ten minutes in the first half. During this time, he contributed five points and three assists before the Hornets' announcement at halftime confirmed he would not return. The Hornets have struggled without Ball on the court, losing all five games during his absence from January 29 to February 5. Despite these challenges, Ball made a strong comeback, scoring 24 points in a victory over San Antonio on Friday.

The Hornets had previously rested Ball on Sunday against Detroit due to left ankle soreness. Although the recent game against the Nets highlighted issues with his right ankle, it underscores a broader pattern of ankle-related setbacks that have affected his availability. These injuries have not only limited his time on the court but have also impacted the Hornets' overall performance this season.
