Tee Morant Ejected from Grizzlies Game for Disrespecting Referees

Tee Morant, father of Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant, was ejected from a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night. The incident occurred with just over two minutes left in the fourth quarter, as the Grizzlies were trailing. Despite their efforts, the Grizzlies eventually lost the game 125-112. Tee Morant's removal from his courtside seat by security stemmed from remarks he made criticizing the integrity of the officiating crew.

Witnesses reported that Tee Morant shouted from his seat, prompting referee Josh Tiven to take action. Tiven, who was aware of the situation, requested security to escort Tee Morant out of the arena. According to a source present at the game, Tee Morant's comments were deemed "overtly disrespectful," leading to his dismissal from the venue.

"The fan continued to repeat overtly disrespectful statements about the integrity of the officiating crew, so as the Crew Chief I approached security and asked that he be removed" – Josh Tiven

Ja Morant did not participate in the incident and remained focused on the game. Despite the disruption, the Grizzlies had a significant advantage in free throw attempts, shooting 39 compared to the Thunder's 21. However, this advantage was not enough to secure a win against their opponents.

The ejection highlights the intense atmosphere surrounding professional basketball games, where emotions can sometimes run high among players, fans, and even family members. Tee Morant's actions serve as a reminder of the responsibilities that come with having a high-profile athlete in the family and the need for decorum during public events.
