LIV Golf Eyes Unification as Trump Enters the Negotiation Scene

LIV Golf is set to inaugurate its 2025 schedule this weekend in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In a significant development, Scott O'Neil, the CEO of LIV Golf, has expressed support for former President Donald Trump’s involvement in negotiations aimed at forming an alliance with the PGA Tour. Trump’s influence with LIV Golf's founders and his history of hosting events at his courses make him a pivotal figure in this unfolding saga.

The PGA Tour has actively sought Trump's expertise to facilitate discussions with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, which is the financial backbone of LIV Golf. Notably, Trump’s golf properties, including those in Miami, Washington, D.C., and Bedminster, N.J., have previously hosted LIV Golf events. His Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami is slated to host another event in April. This past Tuesday, PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan, alongside player director Adam Scott, met with Trump to explore a potential alliance between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.

Scott O'Neil envisions a future where joining forces with the PGA Tour could yield positive outcomes for the sport. He believes that merging the strengths of both organizations could reinvigorate the golfing world and unite top players on shared courses once again. O'Neil's optimism is echoed by Monahan, Scott, and renowned golfer Tiger Woods, who appreciate Trump's longstanding support for golf.

"If the leader of the free world is spending his time on golf, [then] I am very happy," said Scott O'Neil.

The PGA Tour and LIV Golf are considering a partnership to foster a more cohesive golfing environment. This effort would potentially harmonize the world's premier golf tours and address fan anticipation for resolving ongoing negotiations.

"We know golf fans are eagerly anticipating a resolution to negotiations with the Public Investment Fund and want to thank President Trump for his interest and long-time support of the game of golf," Jay Monahan, Adam Scott, and Tiger Woods stated collectively.

O'Neil emphasized the broader significance of golf in today's world, highlighting its role in promoting values and unity.

"This game matters. It gives values that this world needs more of right now. It brings us together with connectivity," remarked Scott O'Neil.
