Grant Udinski, a 29-year-old coaching prodigy, has been appointed as the new offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Starting his career in a Walmart parking lot, Udinski's journey has been nothing short of remarkable. From his beginnings as a graduate assistant at Baylor in 2019 under coach Matt Rhule, to his recent role with the Minnesota Vikings, Udinski has swiftly climbed the coaching ranks. Despite his new title, he will not call plays for the Jaguars.
Udinski's path in football began on the field, playing tight end at Davidson and defensive end at Towson. His coaching career took off at Baylor, where he served as a graduate assistant. After Rhule's departure following the 2022 season, Udinski transitioned to the Minnesota Vikings. There, he was initially appointed as an assistant to the head coach for special projects by Kevin O'Connell.
In 2023, Udinski was promoted to assistant quarterbacks coach, and just a year later, he ascended to the role of assistant offensive coordinator/assistant quarterbacks coach. His efforts with the Vikings were instrumental in reviving quarterback Sam Darnold's career. Under Udinski's guidance, Darnold achieved career highs in completion percentage, yards, and touchdown passes in 2024. The Vikings ended the season with an impressive 14-2 record.
Liam Coen, who recently joined the Jaguars as head coach, played a vital role in bringing Udinski on board. Coen expressed confidence in Udinski's capabilities to enhance the team's offensive potential.
"Grant will bring a wealth of knowledge, energy and a winning mindset to help lead our offense here in Jacksonville." – Liam Coen
Udinski's rise in the coaching world is a testament to his dedication and expertise. His ability to mentor and develop talent has not gone unnoticed. With his new position at the Jaguars, Udinski is poised to make a significant impact on the team’s offensive strategies.
