Manchester City Women have reported racist and misogynistic abuse directed towards their player, Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw, to the police. The vile messages emerged following Sunday's Women's Super League match against Arsenal at the Joie Stadium, where Shaw made her 100th appearance for the club. Despite marking this milestone, the match ended in a narrow 4-3 defeat for Manchester City.
Shaw, who had just returned to the field after her injury in December, came off the bench in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, her return and significant achievement were overshadowed by the abusive messages she received after the game. Manchester City expressed their outrage and issued a strong statement condemning the treatment Shaw endured.
