The Brisbane 2032 Olympics is set to bring the global spotlight to Queensland, Australia, hosting the prestigious event for the first time since the Sydney 2000 Olympics. The International Olympic Committee awarded Brisbane the 2032 Games in 2021, marking a significant milestone in the region's sporting history. Renowned golfer Greg Norman has been appointed to the 24-member organizing board, replacing a retiring politician and contributing his extensive experience to the preparation of this monumental event. The new state government under Premier David Crisafulli is reviewing proposed venues, including the Royal Queensland course for the Olympic golf tournament.
Norman, a two-time British Open champion and proud Queenslander, expressed his enthusiasm for his new role. His appointment comes as part of a broader effort to shape an Olympics reminiscent of the 1992 Barcelona Games. This approach emphasizes a more streamlined and efficient event compared to recent editions, aligning with the "new normal" guidelines set by organizers.
"As a proud Queenslander, it is an honor and privilege to help shape the Brisbane Games." – Greg Norman
This long lead time allows organizers to meticulously plan and prepare for the Games. Andrew Liveris, president of the 2032 organizing committee, envisions an Olympics that will be less extravagant but equally impactful, drawing inspiration from the successful Barcelona model.

The new government is evaluating plans initiated by their predecessors, including a controversial proposal to demolish and rebuild the Gabba stadium. This proposal is currently on hold as officials seek to optimize venue utilization across the state.
