Browns’ Star Myles Garrett Set to Stay, Affirms GM Berry

Myles Garrett
, the NFL’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year, remains a cornerstone for the Cleveland Browns amidst speculation about his future. As a finalist for this season’s award, Garrett continues to demonstrate his prowess on the field with 14 sacks for the second consecutive year. Despite the Browns’ disappointing 3-14 finish, their worst since a winless 2017 season, Garrett’s commitment to the team stands firm.

Garrett, who is 29 years old, has two years left on the five-year, $125 million extension he signed in 2020. His performance and influence make him a prime candidate for a new deal that could again make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL. However, Garrett has voiced concerns about the team's direction, stating he wants to evaluate the Browns' offseason plans before further committing.

In discussions with Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, Garrett has expressed his desire to maximize the team's potential. He has also made it clear that he does not wish to undergo another rebuild in Cleveland. These sentiments were reiterated during a recent statement on Tuesday, emphasizing his desire for stability and success with the team.

General Manager Andrew Berry addressed the swirling rumors of a possible trade involving Garrett. Berry firmly stated that the Browns are not interested in trading Garrett, even for two first-round picks.

"Correct. You can put that on the record," said Andrew Berry.

Berry further assured that they anticipate negotiating a third contract with Garrett at some point. He emphasized that Garrett is likely to remain with the Browns for the rest of his career, reinforcing his central role in the team's long-term plans.
