Nick and Dylan Khatchikian made history on Thursday night, setting new state and national records in a high school basketball game. Nick Khatchikian broke California's single-game scoring record by amassing an astonishing 102 points in just 22 minutes. Meanwhile, his brother, Dylan, set a new state record for assists with 35 in 28 minutes, tying a national record. Mesrobian High School triumphed over Pasadena's Waverly High School with a decisive 119-25 victory.
The game took place at Mesrobian High School, where Nick Khatchikian delivered a performance that will be remembered in California basketball history. Averaging just over 32 points per game, Nick exceeded expectations by dropping 102 of the team's 119 points. He achieved an impressive shooting percentage, making 48 out of his 60 attempts from the field.
Dylan Khatchikian also had a remarkable night, breaking the previous California single-game assist record. His 35 assists surpassed the previous record of 31 set by Calvary Baptist's Josh Arruejo in 2019. Dylan's achievement also tied Andre Colbert's national record for assists in a game, set in New York in 1987. Despite handling the ball extensively, both brothers managed to limit their turnovers to just two each.
This extraordinary display of skill and teamwork by the Khatchikian brothers not only led their team to victory but also secured a place for them in the annals of basketball history. Their performances were characterized by precision and efficiency, as both shot 80% from the field.
