Rashford’s Future Hangs in the Balance: AC Milan and Barcelona Lead the Race

AC Milan have expressed interest in loaning Marcus Rashford from Manchester United until the end of the season. As Manchester United await formal offers, they aim to mitigate the cost of Rashford's wages. AC Milan and Barcelona are both considering moves for Rashford in January, with sources indicating that Barcelona is Rashford's preferred destination. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus have distanced themselves from a potential deal.

Manchester United are reportedly keen to introduce performance and appearance-linked clauses into any agreement for Rashford. This season, Rashford has made 12 league starts and scored four times, showcasing his potential value to prospective clubs. However, Sky Italy has described Wednesday as a "decisive day" for determining Rashford's future.

Barcelona's financial situation has improved, with President Joan Laporta stating their readiness to sign players, including potentially Marcus Rashford.

"We've returned to the 1:1 rule, which allows us to sign players normally and register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor." – Joan Laporta

In addition to Rashford, Barcelona have plans to make an eye-catching move following what they described as an "apocalyptic narrative" and several attempts from outside to destabilise the club. Ansu Fati is anticipated to be made available for transfer to accommodate a new signing.

On the other hand, Juventus have prioritized securing Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain, further distancing themselves from a deal for Rashford. Similarly, Borussia Dortmund have also stepped back from negotiations, narrowing the field of potential suitors primarily to AC Milan and Barcelona.

AC Milan considers Barcelona their "main opponent in this race for the attacker." While Barcelona are more flexible with players like Raphinha, who can play through the middle and on the right, AC Milan's options are more limited with Rafael Leao.
