Jackson did not shy away from addressing the setbacks. He was seen speaking to Andrews on the sideline following the failed conversion. Although Andrews was unavailable to comment post-game, Jackson made it clear that he did not blame his teammate for the defeat.
"It's not his fault. All of us played a factor in that game. It's a team effort," said Lamar Jackson.
Jackson showed his leadership by taking responsibility for the turnovers, which included both an interception and a fumble—his fourth postseason game with such errors. He emphasized the importance of ball protection, a crucial element they faltered on during the match.
"Protecting the ball — that's the No. 1 priority, and we didn't do it," Jackson acknowledged.
The game wasn't without its highlights for Jackson, who completed a 24-yard touchdown pass to tight end Isaiah Likely with just 1:33 left on the clock. However, it was not enough to overcome the deficit created by earlier mistakes. Head coach John Harbaugh expressed his faith in Andrews, highlighting his dedication and efforts despite the unfortunate drop.
"There's nobody that has more heart and cares more and fights more than Mark," remarked John Harbaugh.
The loss adds to Jackson's playoff challenges as he remains the only player with multiple NFL MVP awards who hasn't claimed a Super Bowl victory. For Jackson and his team, overcoming these hurdles remains a pressing goal.
"I have to get over this because we're right there," Jackson stated, reflecting on their close proximity to success despite repeated setbacks.
