Caleb Williams Undergoes Elective Surgery, Unfazed for Offseason

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams recently underwent minor elective surgery to remove a cyst from his right wrist. The 23-year-old athlete, who was not listed for any wrist or hand injuries during his rookie season, is expected to have an uninterrupted offseason. Williams was seen sporting a cast on his wrist at the USC-Wisconsin men's basketball game on January 18, 2025. This appearance took place courtside at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, where he was joined by Bears wide receiver John Jackson III. Both Williams and Jackson III share a history as alumni of the University of Southern California (USC).

Despite the surgery, which NFL Network first reported, the procedure was considered "not serious." It does not appear to be significant enough to impact Williams' performance or preparation for the upcoming season. The surgery was not among the offseason procedures mentioned during a recent season-ending news conference by the Bears' general manager.

As Williams recovers, the Chicago Bears continue their search for their 19th head coach. The organization has completed 16 interviews so far as part of this process. Most recently, they conducted virtual interviews with Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores and Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich on Saturday. This extensive search underscores the team's commitment to securing leadership that aligns with their strategic goals.

Caleb Williams, who played his rookie season without any notable injuries, remains a pivotal figure in the Bears' lineup. His presence at the basketball game with teammate Jackson III highlights their ongoing camaraderie and connection to USC. Williams' participation in such events suggests that his recovery is progressing well.
