The decision reflects a broader pattern, as the NFL previously used Arizona as a contingency plan during similar crises. In 2003, for instance, a Monday night game was moved from San Diego to Tempe due to wildfires. This latest relocation not only safeguards players and fans but also ensures that the game proceeds amidst the ongoing emergency.
The Vikings have seen their odds improve following the announcement, transitioning from consensus 1-point favorites to 2.5-point favorites. This shift in betting lines underscores the impact of the relocation on expectations for both teams.
Coach Jim Harbaugh of the Vikings indicated that adjustments were made to practice routines due to the unpredictable conditions.
