Trae Young’s Bruised Rib Adds to Hawks’ Injury Woes

Atlanta Hawks' star guard, Trae Young, will not play against the Chicago Bulls due to a bruised right rib. The injury comes at a challenging time for the Hawks, who are already grappling with numerous sidelined players. Young, known for his durability despite his 175-pound frame, has been a key contributor to the team, averaging 23.1 points and leading the league with 11.9 assists per game this season.

Young suffered the rib injury during a game against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, where he scored a season-high 43 points, leading his team to a narrow 122-117 victory. Despite taking what was described as a "pretty good shot" during the game, Young's performance underscored his resilience and competitive spirit.

"If you've ever been hit in the ribs, sometimes they can't tell if it's broken or it's sore or it's bruised," said Coach Quin Snyder.

The Atlanta Hawks are currently facing a series of injuries, with several players on the bench. Besides Young, Jalen Johnson is out with right shoulder inflammation, De'Andre Hunter is nursing left foot soreness, Larry Nance Jr. has a right hand injury, and Zaccharie Risacher is dealing with left adductor irritation. These absences have left the team short-handed as they navigate a competitive Eastern Conference with a record of 20-19.

"Trae competes every time he plays and it's hard to find a 175-pound guard that's more durable than Trae Young," remarked Coach Quin Snyder.

Coach Snyder has not provided a timeline for Young's return, expressing hope for a swift recovery but acknowledging the unpredictability of rib injuries.

"We're hopeful that he'll be back quickly," Snyder added.
