Thunder to Face Cavaliers Without Key Center Hartenstein

The Oklahoma City Thunder will face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday in Oklahoma City without their center, Isaiah Hartenstein. Hartenstein, who recently sustained a left soleus strain, will be sidelined for at least a week. This injury occurred during the Thunder's recent victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. As the Thunder prepare to face the Cavaliers, they aim to maintain their competitive edge despite the absence of their key player.

The Cavaliers enter the matchup with 34 wins this season, while the Thunder have secured 33 victories. Oklahoma City faces a formidable opponent, as Cleveland previously broke the Thunder's impressive 15-game winning streak with a home win on December 8. The absence of Hartenstein, who has contributed significantly to the team, poses a challenge for the Thunder.

Isaiah Hartenstein's impact on the Thunder has been evident throughout the season. Since signing a three-year, $87 million contract last summer, he has delivered career-high averages of 11.8 points, 12.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game. The team's record stands at an impressive 22-2 when Hartenstein is on the court. His absence will again leave Oklahoma City without either of their 7-footers, a scenario they faced earlier this season.

During the previous stretch without Hartenstein and fellow center Chet Holmgren, Oklahoma City managed a 3-2 record. Holmgren suffered a fractured pelvis in a game against the Golden State Warriors on November 10 and has been gradually working towards his return, engaging in simple basketball activities such as spot shooting. The team remains optimistic about his progress and eagerly anticipates his return to full play.
