Scott O’Neil Takes Helm as New CEO of LIV Golf

Scott O'Neil has been appointed as the new CEO of LIV Golf, succeeding Greg Norman, who has held the position since the league's inception in 2021. This change in leadership comes as LIV Golf looks to continue its trajectory of growth on a global scale. With over 25 years of experience in leading and managing sports and entertainment brands, O'Neil is set to drive the strategic vision and business operations of the team golf circuit.

O'Neil's extensive background includes previous roles as CEO of Merlin Entertainments and Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment. His appointment, announced by LIV Golf on Wednesday, marks a significant transition for the organization. O'Neil expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, highlighting the league's accomplishments in a short span.

"What LIV Golf has achieved in just three years is remarkable," said O'Neil.

Under Norman's leadership, LIV Golf has established itself as a key player in the sports industry. Norman, who served as both the league's first CEO and commissioner, was pivotal in launching and growing the league. Yasir Al-Rumayyan, chairman of LIV Golf's board, extended his gratitude to Norman for his contributions.

"I thank him for everything he has done to establish, launch and grow our league. He has been instrumental to LIV's success," stated Al-Rumayyan.

Al-Rumayyan praised O'Neil's capabilities, emphasizing his passion and vision as essential qualities for leading LIV Golf into the future.

"Scott has the passion, the tenacity, and the vision to continue leveraging LIV Golf's position as a pre-eminent, global sports and entertainment company and to lead our amazing teams and players for years to come," Al-Rumayyan remarked.

O'Neil aims to infuse the league with fresh energy and innovation, particularly through the team model that has already brought a newfound dynamic to the game.

"The game has been infused with a long overdue bolt of energy and innovation with the team model," O'Neil noted.

Greg Norman acknowledged the leadership shift in a social media post, signaling a smooth transition as he passed the baton to O'Neil. The change is effective immediately, with O'Neil stepping into his new role as CEO of LIV Golf.
