David Moyes Returns to Everton: Aiming for Stability and Success

David Moyes, boasting over 1,000 games in management, has returned to Everton, where he first made his mark in the Premier League. The 61-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the club, tasked with leading Everton into their new era at the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium. This move comes after the sacking of previous manager Sean Dyche, as Everton currently sits precariously at 17th in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone. Moyes believes that with a focused playing style and strategic reinforcements, the team can escape relegation and thrive.

In his first spell at Everton, Moyes spent 11 successful years, leaving in 2013 to join Manchester United. His return marks a significant moment for both him and the club. He is confident in the current squad's ability to overcome challenges, despite recruitment issues off the pitch and a lack of goals on it. So far, Everton has managed only 15 goals in 19 league matches, a major concern that Moyes intends to address head-on.

"We’ll give him as much confidence as we can but then there’s a bit where you need the player to stand up and do his bit as well," Moyes remarked about striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Moyes has high expectations for Calvert-Lewin, hoping he can come to the team's rescue by breaking their goal-scoring drought. He has made it clear that immediate results are needed from the striker.

"I have told him I am needing goals off him right away and he has to start delivering," emphasized Moyes.

Despite the daunting task ahead, Moyes remains optimistic about Everton's prospects. Though recruitment has been problematic, he has not ruled out the possibility of new signings during the January transfer window to bolster the squad and improve their performance.

"For a couple of weeks I didn’t think there was any chance Everton could be in it [the relegation battle]," Moyes admitted, acknowledging the gravity of the situation.

He understands that escaping relegation will require a collective effort from everyone involved with the club. Moyes is aware that improved performances and more goals are essential to turn Everton's season around.

"I am not kidding myself, we need everyone behind us, the players playing better, scoring more goals," he stated.

In addition to tactical improvements on the field, Moyes aims to restore faith among Everton supporters by providing them with reasons to cheer. He is hopeful that by bringing in new players and fostering a positive atmosphere, he can rejuvenate the club's fortunes.

"Hopefully I can give the supporters something to shout about and bring in some new players," Moyes concluded.
