New Zealand's celebrated fast bowler, Matt Henry, has announced his return to Somerset for the 2025 cricket season. He has signed a deal to play with Somerset from April 7 to June 25, during which he will participate in seven County Championship matches and eight T20 Blast games. Henry's re-engagement follows a standout performance with the club in 2023, where he claimed the title of leading wicket-taker in the T20 Blast with 31 wickets and was named player of the match in the final, helping Somerset secure the trophy.
Henry's previous tenure with Somerset demonstrated his prowess on the field, taking 32 wickets in just six County Championship matches at an average of 16.18. His impact extended beyond his statistics, as he made significant contributions both on and off the field, endearing himself to the Somerset community. His affinity for the club is evident, and he eagerly anticipates his return.

Henry's international credentials are impressive. In addition to his success with Somerset, he plays for Canterbury in New Zealand and was part of the Black Caps team that recently defeated England in Hamilton. His experience spans 135 games across formats for his national side, amassing 293 wickets. Beyond international cricket, Henry showcased his talent with Welsh Fire in The Hundred in 2024 and played for Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
