Exciting New Format Announced for 2025 NBA All-Star Game

The NBA has unveiled an exhilarating new format for the 2025 All-Star Game, scheduled for February 16, at the iconic Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors. In a departure from traditional formats, this year's event will feature a tournament-style competition involving four teams of eight players each. The All-Star weekend, spanning from February 14 to 16, promises to be a thrilling showcase of basketball excellence and entertainment, with fans around the world eagerly anticipating the action.

Five players from each conference will be honored as starters, selected through a voting process involving fans, current NBA players, and a media panel. Fans hold significant influence over the selection, contributing 50% of the votes, while NBA players and a media panel provide 25% each. This democratic approach ensures a diverse and deserving lineup of starters who will take center stage on the big night.

The All-Star Game will be televised live on TNT at 8 p.m. ET, offering viewers an opportunity to witness the best of basketball talent compete for not just glory but also a substantial prize pool of $1.8 million. The rosters for this innovative tournament will bear the names of TNT analysts Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kenny Smith—Team Chuck, Team Shaq, and Team Kenny. Each team will have to score 40 or more points to advance in the competition, adding an exciting layer of strategy and intensity to the games.

The tournament will feature two semifinal matchups, with the victorious teams progressing to the championship showdown. Players on the championship-winning team will each receive $125,000, while those on the second-place team will earn $50,000. Participants on the third- and fourth-place teams are set to take home $25,000 each, ensuring that every game is played with competitive spirit and determination.

Adding to the excitement is the Rising Stars event, which will spotlight four teams made up of top first- and second-year NBA players alongside NBA G League standouts. Fans can cast their votes for this event starting December 19 and continuing through January 20, further engaging them in the All-Star festivities.

Coaching duties for the four All-Star teams will be entrusted to coaches from the teams holding the best regular-season records in each conference as of February 2. This selection criterion acknowledges the strategic prowess and leadership skills demonstrated during the regular season.
