The San Francisco 49ers have completed a deal to bring in Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Bryce Huff. This move comes on the heels of Huff’s standout performance during the 2023 NFL season, where he achieved career-high statistics that made him one of the league’s most effective pass rushers. The 49ers expect him to bolster their defense and provide depth on the edge opposite star defensive end Nick Bosa.
Huff is also expected to join the 49ers as part of the trade deal. By the new contract’s structure, he’ll make an average of $7.95 million this year. To compare, the Philadelphia Eagles will be taking on $9.05 million of Huff’s salary, a major financial aspect of the deal. In 2024, Huff signed a rich three-year contract with the Eagles, totaling $51 million. This contract is another signal of just how strong his market value was as a proven player in the league.
Huff’s performance in the 2024 season included 13 tackles and 2.5 sacks across 12 games, during which he started six contests. His experience and versatility should enhance the 49ers’ defensive creativity immediately. They can line Mykel Williams up on any spot on the line but they can do it in sub-packages.
