Wales are already looking forward to an Euro 2028 adventure. The tournament begins on June 9 and will culminate with the championship game on July 9. The tournament will be made up of 24 nations playing in nine different stadiums. Matches will be held across England, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland. The Principality Stadium in Cardiff will stage some of the tournament’s most important fixtures, making for an incredible atmosphere among the passionate local supporters.
The opening match of Euro 2028 is due to take place at the Principality Stadium. Or Wales might simply find themselves on the pitch as one of the competing teams! The energy is palpable in Cardiff! Like much of the world, the nation pins its hopes on a dominant showing that might carry them deep into the tournament knockout rounds.
Key Matches for Wales
Wales’ group stage matches will take place at the home of Welsh rugby, the Principality Stadium, on 9, 14 and 18 June. If they do well enough to come out on top of Group A, then they will move on to the Round of 16. This thrilling final round will take place on June 24 at the same location. It’s this prospect that drives all the speculation and excitement from fans. Like their fans, they can’t wait to see their team thriving in a booming home market.
If Wales is successful in their bid, they’ll make it through to the quarter finals. On June 30, they’ll take their talents to Wembley Stadium in London. Should they be able to extend their winning run, they could well be heading back to Wembley for those semi-finals on July 4. The journey on all of these great matches’ paths has been paved with the highest hopes and most illustrious dreams of glory.
The Road to Wembley
A very difficult path lies ahead for Wales. The four dedicate host nations—Wales, England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland—won’t secure automatic qualification for Euro 2028. For the 10 of them that do hold firm, they’ll benefit from the tremendous perk of having all their group-stage matches played at home. The tournament features a breathtaking 51 matches. Our local football fans are electric, clamoring to see their team battle it out so competitively on the world’s stage.
Euro 2028 would go one step further, reserving qualifying slots purely for the host nations. Twelve teams will compete in each of three paths for a shot at three final tournament slots. Each country is willing to stop at nothing to be successful in this highly coveted event, making the play incredibly competitive.
